On AUSV: I was inspired

We serve those who serve those who served”, is our motto here at the Academy of United States Veterans Foundation (AUSV) and it carries various meanings. First, the AUSV serves the groups and organizations that directly serve veterans with psychological, physical and numerous other matters. Additionally, our motto can also refer to serving the veteran community as a civilian serviceman. Before AUSV, I had zero affiliation with the military or military organizations. Not a single person in my family served in the United States Armed Forces, let alone in any type of government institution. When it came to topics regarding the military I had no input in the matter, and I honestly felt like I did not deserve one. Since I did not serve, I felt like my opinion was irrelevant. More...

You’re trapped, surrounded, and there’s only one way out; through the water. Sound simple, except there are 399,000 others trying to accomplish the same thing. That is how I felt when I watched Christopher Nolan’s newest film; Dunkirk. Never before have I been able to live vicariously through a film before I saw this movie. I was in as high of a state of panic as the characters on screen were throughout the duration of the film. Nolan is my favorite director of all time, and I believe that this by far, is his best film yet. More...
