Candy Martin retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Five in 2013 after a 38-year career in the U.S. Army. She deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005-2006 and notably served as the Theater Property Book Officer.
Candy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. She is a graduate of multiple military schools. Her awards include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star. She is a distinguished member of the Quartermaster Regiment and was recently inducted into the United States Army Quartermaster Hall of Fame.
She is a Past National President of American Gold Star Mothers, is the Vice-President of the 1LT Tom Martin Memorial Foundation, serves as a Director on the United States Army Women’s Museum non-profit board, is appointed as an Army Reserve Ambassador, and frequently volunteers with at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital, and the USO, both in San Antonio Texas.
Candy and her husband Sergeant Major (Retired) Ed Martin make their home in San Antonio Texas. They raised four children – Tom, Sarah, Laura, and Becky. Tom, a 2005 graduate of the United States Military Academy, was killed while serving in Iraq in October 2007. Ed and Candy enjoy traveling and spending time with their three grandchildren.
